I've done the calculations. My mind is boggled.
The Argent Tournament is the most time-intensive event that I have ever seen (granted, I haven't been in the Tournaments held for PvP people by Blizzard, but still). To even begin participating properly, you must do 8 days worth of dailies limited to your race. From there, you may finally begin earning Champion Seals, which allow you to buy all sorts of nifty things.
I made a list.
Argent Hippogryph - 250 Champion's Seals
A mount for each Race - 100 Champion's Seals/mount (5 mounts/500 Champion's Seals total)
A Tabard for each Race - 50 Champion's Seals/tabard (5 Tabards/250 Champion's Seals total)
A Pet for each Race - 40 Champion's Seals/pet (5 Pets/200 Champion's Seals total)
A Banner for each Race - 15 Champion's Seals/banner (5 Banners/75 Champion's Seals total)
250 + 250 + 500 + 200 + 75 = 1275 Champion's Seals total.
Seeing as you can get only 5 Champion's Seals a day right now, this could take some time. And 2 Champion's Seals are from a 3-man quests.
Let's assume that you do all the dailies every day. It will take you 255 days to get the required marks.
Now, there is a bonus to this. You earn about 70g from just these 5 dailies. Each daily also rewards you with 10g or a free Commendation of your choice (assuming that you've unlocked that City's quartermaster). Let's assume that you also do the other two dailies offered at the grounds. Right now, you are earning about 130g per day.
If you do no other dailies or quests at all through the 255 days grinding, you will obtain 33,150g. This is enough to afford the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth (16000g @ Exalted with Kirin Tor), the two Mammoths offered by the Sons of Hodir (8800g @ Exalted with SoH), the Kirin Tor Ring (6800g @ Exalted with Kirin Tor). This will cost you 31,600g, leaving you with a cool 1550g leftover for whatever else you want.
Crazy, hmmmmmm?
PS - To reduce your time by a small margin, you can skip the Banners, freeing up 15 days from the duration. That's still 240 days to contend with. Good luck, people.
